The website serves as a catalyst. Not only to reach more customers, get more money, but it can also be a kick-off to your investment into youth. The way that this program is set up is really cool, because what we have to bring is the mentoring aspect and in exchange for that, we have a website. My favorite part about working with the small business was being able to give back to the community that I grew up in. I have a chance to educate myself and others and it makes me feel really good. My experience was more than just getting a website, it was watching a young person start at point A and go to point Z! I really appreciate that Hack the Hood has managed the process of my involvement with the organization to make sure that I’m ready to use my youth developer’s time well. There’s a lot that gets done in a short amount of time and that really works well for me. My small business owner was on it. She was really amazing, she gave me all the information I needed so everything ran really smooth. My website turned out fantastic, I really love the results. I got a lot of traffic to my website. I was happy that I could take a vision of a website and put it into someone else’s hands. To go from nothing to an actual site– this was the biggest gift. If I could do it again, I would. It was an amazing experience and now I have an new technical skill. The only word that comes to my mind is gratitude. I brought to him a challenge that he rose to, and then I got what I wanted. It was a brilliant win-win.
